It Takes a Village
A great player is valuable, but a great team is priceless.
Just as we have always sought out the best performing materials, we also continue to foster the most powerful/compelling alliances in the industry. Meet our Alliance Partners.
Sika Sarnafil is our oldest Alliance Partner; our relationship dates back to 2000 with the design and installation of the Chicago City Hall green roof. Sika Sarnafil and Roofmeadow have been offering single source warranties since 2005. Sika Sarnafil’s fiberglass-reinforced spread-coated PVC membrane has been successfully tested for root resistance (no additional root barrier needed!). The Sika Sarnafil membrane was developed in the 1960s for use in tunnel linings. Consequently it has ideal properties for use in green roofs. The membrane formulation has not been modified in over four decades. Green roofs, utilizing Sika Sarnafil membrane are still performing without problems after 50 years! Heat welded in the field, the PVC seams do not wick water like the laminated TPO membranes that are generally not recommended for green roof applications.*
The Sika Sarnafil/Roofmeadow single source warranty program is among the most comprehensive in the industry, covering the waterproofing system, insulation, and green roof — including media and the plant viability for the warranty duration. Although the single warranty is issued under Sika Sarnafil’s brand, Roofmeadow is responsible for workmanship and material failures associated with the green roof; Sika Sarnafil is responsible for workmanship and material failures associated with the waterproofing system.
In the event of a leak, Sika Sarnafil covers all costs associated with locating and exposing the damaged waterproofing, repairing the problem, and restoring the green roof — provided that the problem arises from the waterproofing or green roof systems. Pursuant to an existing indemnification agreement, Sika Sarnafil and Roofmeadow sort our costs and liabilities after the client has been redressed.
*In The NRCA Vegetated Roof Systems Manual, Second Edition, ©2009, the NRCA does not recommend TPO waterproofing membranes beneath green roofs.
The Henry Company, which provides hot rubberized asphalt and modified bitumen waterproofing systems, also offers a single source warranty in conjunction with Roofmeadow green roofs. The warranty package covers the waterproofing system, insulation, and green roof, including media and the survival and vigor of the plants for the warranty duration. Again, Roofmeadow is responsible for workmanship and material failures associated with the green roof, and Henry is responsible for workmanship and material failures associated with the waterproofing system.
What sets the Sika Sarnafil/Roofmeadow and Henry/Roofmeadow warranty programs aside from all others is the fact that green roofs can be designed to any objective and specifications. Sika Sarnafil or Henry will provide a single-source warranty for ANY green roof designed and installed by Roofmeadow. The range in choice, flexibility in design, and ability to tailor designs to the goals and pocketbooks of its clients is simply unsurpassed in the green roof industry.
